Day 43 - Palm Tree

Could there be a more predictable sketch for my first day in Hawaii than that of a palm tree? I couldn't help myself as I sat on the lanai watching night turn to day.

After my sketching was done, we had a fabulous breakfast along the water then went to find Captain Cook's monument which we saw from the shore of Kealakekua Bay. Further exploring led us to the Painted Church. On our way back to town we bought some delicious macadamia nuts and coffee. Overall it was a fun and interesting first day.

well you can't go to Hawaii without drawing a palm tree, its almost unheard of :)

My thoughts exactly Jennifer! And it takes at least a few days until you start feeling like palm trees are common place. Actually, I truthfully wanted to draw them every day, but I restrained myself...mostly.

MJ, I wish we had brought a few bags home with us. We snacked on them quite a bit while we were there, but didn't bring any home and I'm missing them. I'm glad you enjoyed checking out the links. I didn't know if anyone would, but I wanted to put them in so years from now I could look back at what we did. :)
