Finished Watercolor Poppy

I know this isn't a traditional Valentine's flower, but I shared the WIP image of this painting earlier and I wanted to show you the final piece.

Red Poppy
watercolor on Aquabord
copyright 2010 Stacy L. Rowan

This is painted on Ampersand Aquabord. It is my third painting on Aquabord and my second floral. I am really starting to like working on this support and I love that it can be framed without glass.

I was attracted to the saturated pinky reds in this piece and am pleased that I was able to achieve that color in the painting. I also loved sculpting all of the different petal forms.

Once the weather starts warming up I will spray this painting and frame it, hopefully in time for a show I have in April. Between now and then I also have to title it. Any suggestions?

Its a beauty!
Way to go Stacy!
Valentine Beauty?
Valentine Red?
Valentine Surprise?

I am at a loss. I'm no good at naming paintings.

You have to express more your opinion to attract more readers, because just a video or plain text without any personal approach is not that valuable. But it is just form my point of view

Stacy, this turned so well! I haven't tried the aquaboard yet. What will you be spraying it with? May I ask?

Thanks Billie! I've used Aquabord a couple of times now and am really enjoying it. I'll get back to you with the spray information after I go read the label on the can!!

Thanks Anita! I was going for that saturated color. I had someone ask me if the flower was red (like I labelled it) or hot pink the way it looks on the screen. It really is a saturated hot pink. For the life of me I don't know why I didn't label it "pink poppy".
